Under the Sea

I'm obsessed with water secene lately. In this card, I wanted to create a dimensional background that shows the depth of the ocean. At the same time, I also wanted to create a shaker card. So I decided to combine them. However, the card got too thick after turning into shaker card, I felt it would be weird to make each layer thicker.

For the background, I first die cuts 3 cardstocks with different oval sizes. I stacked all four cardstocks (including the bottom most layer) together, and ink blended them with distress inks so that the color transition in all cardstocks are consistent. I spritzed some water at the end and wiped them out to create water effect.

Texture Copics Coloring

This weekend I was up for trying out some Copics color techniques. I was inspired by Marker Geek's tutorial on how to draw texture animals and was motivated to give it a shot. So here iswhat I've got. As for the background, I tried to generate ombre effect with pigment ink. Although it is a very common technique, I have never used it in my cards before!

Bringing Sunshine

My idea in this card is to present the motion of traveling from darkness to brightness. The background of the card goes from night to sunrise to daylight, and the air balloon travels from night to day. The girl was taken to the bright world by her friend, teddy bear.

Let's Make A Splash

Today I tried using vellum for the first time in my cards. I was inspired by Jennifer McQuire's beautiful card. I applied distress ink cracked pistachio on top layer and peacock feathers on bottom layer. I almost trashed these vellums because inks kept coming off. The next day I looked at them again and decided to finish my card with them, although the colors are still lighter than I expected.

This is also my first card with Copic coloring. I really enjoyed the brightness and depth Copic markers bring!
